Inspired by the Puerto Rican adage “Hay que tener malicia” (one must have slyness), this project explores malicia through a mask modeled after the vejigante. Blending performance, drawing, and model-making, it reveals the mask’s dual role as both protector and liberator—a symbol of resilience that embraces life’s complex interplay of concealment and truth.
